'He wants to fight the defenders' - Onyeka compares great strikers Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney
Published: March 11, 2024
Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka has given his opinion on two players linked with Arsenal, Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney.
While the Three Lions forward has scored 36 goals in 77 English Premier League appearances, the Napoli number 9 has mustered 61 goals in 100 outings in the Serie A.
The FC Ebedei product knows all about the qualities of Osimhen and Toney, having played with the former in the Nigeria national team and the latter at Brentford.
In terms of their playing style, both players share similarities in their ability to provide physicality, dominate aerially, and involve teammates in the game.
Onyeka sang the praises of Osimhen and Toney as he gave the lowdown on the two world-class strikers.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Onyeka said: "Ivan is an all-round player, he can go anywhere, he can come down into the midfield.
"Osimhen is like a target man, he wants to fight the defenders and get every ball. Both are great strikers."
Toney almost scored a goal of the season contender during Brentford's 2-1 loss to Premier League table-toppers Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening.
Nine minutes into the second half, the Brentford number 17 attempted a shot from just shy of the halfway line, aiming to catch Ramsdale off guard, only for the Arsenal goalkeeper to make a remarkable save.
