Arsenal U18 coach Wilshere reveals what impressed him about four-goal hero Obi-Martin against Eagles

Arsenal U18 boss Jack Wilshere was delighted with the performance of Danish-Nigerian center forward Chido Obi-Martin during his side's 8-3 win over Crystal Palace in an U18 Premier League fixture at London Colbey on Saturday, March 16.

The Denmark U17 international went on a scoring spree against the Young Eagles, accounting for half of the goals scored by the Gunners.

The talented forward bagged his first in the 18th minute with a tap in, his second came in the 39th minute when he curled the ball brilliantly into the bottom corner from outside the penalty area.

Obi-Martin dispatched a penalty in the 51st minute to complete his hat trick and added a seventh goal for Arsenal a minute before stoppage time.

The Danish-Nigerian wonderkid was singled out for praise by Jack Wilshere, who revealed that the schoolboy showed different facets of his game in the win against Crystal Palace.

"I'm proud of the team because, for a striker to score four, he needs his teammates, his midfielders and defenders, but it’s the hardest thing in football and to do it four times as an under-16 in under-18s football takes some real personality," Wilshere said to Arsenal's official website

"Not just that side of his game, his link-up play, the way he pressed and set the tempo for us, he’s developing nicely. There are still things to do and get better at but I’m happy with where he’s at at the moment."

With eight goals in ten appearances, Obi-Martin, who has already signed a pre-scholarship deal ahead of the 2024-2025 season, is Arsenal U18s leading scorer in the league.
