Published: March 20, 2024Ademola Lookman has declared that the Super Eagles are ready to face Ghana on Friday and show their quality once again after an impressive outing at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations
The Atalanta forward featured in a major tournament for the first time at the 2023 AFCON where he started all but one game for the Super Eagles in the competition.
He was one of the standout players, ending the competition as the side's top scorer with three goals and also bagged an assist.
Unsurprisingly, the 26-year-old was named in the CAF's Team of the tournament, alongside center back William Troost-Ekong and right back Ola Aina.
He has also been able to replicate that form form for Atalanta and was rightly called up for the forthcoming games against Ghana and Mali
Speaking on Wednesday, the former Everton forward spoke about the confidence in the squad ahead of the match against the Black Stars.
"Another good session from us. We are getting prepared for the game, obviously on Friday. So, we are looking forward to it."
Asked about whether the team still speaks about what transpired at AFCON, he said: "Obviously, at AFCON, many things happen.
"We have still got the same set of group. We are still happy and together and obviously, some new faces as well in the squad. So, we are really happy to be back with the team."
The versatile forward was also asked about what Nigerians should expect ahead off the clash with the four-time African champions
"It is an opportunity for us to once again show the level we are at, the level we have shown at AFCON, the level that is expected of us.We are definitely looking forward to it."
