Obi-Martin reveals what Arteta said about him, number of times he has trained with Arsenal first team
Published: March 24, 2024Denmark U17 international of Nigerian descent, Chidozie Obi-Martin has revealed that he has been praised by manager Mikel Arteta after his training sessions with the first team.
The Spanish football tactician invited the center forward to train with the first team on the back of his exceptional performances for the Gunners youth teams.
Obi-Martin plundered ten goals for the U16s in a friendly against Liverpool, and has eight goals to his name from ten league appearances in the U18 Premier League, making him Arsenal's top scorer in the division.
Despite being just 16 years old, the Danish-Nigerian striker has already made his competitive debut for Arsenal's development squad in his final season as a schoolboy.
Obi-Martin is delighted with his progress at Arsenal and is eyeing a permanent spot in Arsenal U21 team next season.
"I have trained six times with the first team, so we have talked, but it has not been a big deal," Obi-Martin told bold.dk.
"He (Arteta) just praises me all the time and says nice things, so it's very nice. Of course it makes me proud."
Obi-Martin is currently on international duty with Demark U17s and started both of their elite round qualifying matches against Turkey and Serbia.
He is among the three players of Nigerian descent who have been offered scholarships for the 2024-2025 season, the others being goalkeeper Owen Asemota and Andre Annous.
