Napoli reject Chelsea's Lukaku-plus-cash offer for Osimhen; Blues considering using Broja to sweeten deal
Published: April 07, 2024
Napoli have reportedly rejected a player plus cash deal from Chelsea for the purchase of Victor Osimhen.
According to II Matino via Napoli Magazine, Chelsea have offered Romelu Lukaku who is currently on loan at Roma plus cash to persuade Napoli to part ways with their star striker.
But the Italian oufift have reportedly rejected the offer and their English counterparts will now try to use 22-year-old striker Armando Broja who has previously been linked with Napoli to facilitate their pursuit of the Super Eagles forward.
With Osimhen costing close to €130m, the Blues are trying to reduce the price to be paid for his services, thus their player plus cash approach which could prove unhelpful.
This is because Napoli are also expecting a windfall from the sale of star striker, to aid their summer plans, one of which includes the purchase of Tottenham forward Dejan Kulusevski.
Thus, Chelsea will have to up their game if they are to beat PSG, Manchester United and Arsenal to the signature of the 2023 African Footballer of the Year.
PSG are said to be in the front seat for the signing of the Nigerian forward and will have no issue paying his release clause.
