16yo Obi-Martin who shares the same agent as Iwobi, Akpom, Saka trains with Arsenal first team
Published: April 08, 2024Manager Mikel Arteta promoted talented center forward of Nigerian descent, Chido Obi-Martin to first team training on Monday, on the eve of Arsenal's UEFA Champions League clash against Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium in London, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Obi-Martin is represented by Elite Project Group, the same agency that handles the affairs of Hale End Academy products Alex Iwobi, Chuba Akpom, Bukayo Saka, Malcolm Ebiowei, David Agbontohoma and Tobi Omole.
Aged 16, the Denmark U17 international of Nigerian descent has already agreed a scholarship with Arsenal for the 2024-2025 season, turning down offers from esteemed European clubs like Ajax Amsterdam and Borussia Dortmund.
With some of the academy players featuring for the U21s against Stoke City in the Premier League 2 this evening, including attack-minded players of Nigerian descent Ethan Nwaneri and Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, Arteta extended an invitation to Obi-Martin to train with the senior squad to make up the numbers in the training session.
Butler-Oyedeji and Nwaneri's involvement with the U21s indicates that it's improbable they will be summoned for the visit of Bayern Munich.
Obi-Martin also trained with the first team before Arsenal's Champions League meeting with Sevilla back in November.
The Danish-Nigerian wonderkid, who is in his final season as a schoolboy, is Arsenal's leading scorer in the U18 Premier League with thirteen goals from twelve appearances, with nine of the goals scored in his last three matches.
