Unstoppable Nigerian striker takes his tally to 11 goals in four games for Arsenal youth team
Published: April 09, 2024
Danish-born Nigerian striker Chido Obi-Martin put up another impressive performance for Arsenal U18's in their 5-3 win over Brighton in a U18 Premier League game played on Tuesday afternoon at the Elite Football Performance Centre.
Brighton started the game on the front foot, taking the lead through Joe Belmont as early as the second minute and Harry Mills doubled their lead, five minutes later.
Arsenal pulled one back in the 20th minute through Louie Copley and Michal Rosiak restored parity for the away side with a brilliant free kick which he fired into the top corner.
Obi-Martin gave the young Gunners the lead in the 25th minute, making the most of a defensive mistake from the Brighton defence to score his first of the game.
Five minutes before the end of the first half, the red-hot striker got past a couple of defenders before slotting the ball into the bottom corner.
Ronnie Gorman pulled one back for the home side but a goal from Nigerian schoolboy Andre Annous in the 83rd minute buried any hope of Brighton staging a comeback in the game.
With his brace today, Obi-Martin has now netted a whopping 11 goals in his last four appearances and has 15 goals in the U18 Premier League this season.
The talented striker is five goals shy of equaling Rhys Murphy' record of most goals scored by an Arsenal schoolboy in the U18 Premier League.
