Aston Villa join Arsenal, Manchester United, Italian clubs in race for Dutch-Nigerian striker
Published: April 10, 2024
According to il Resto del Carlino Sport, Aston Villa have entered the race to sign Dutch-Nigerian striker Joshua Zirkzee.
Zirkzee is set to be a subject of transfer tussle between European heavyweights in the summer as a result of his prolific form for Bologna this season in the Serie A.
The 22-year-old has been one of the best players for Bologna in the ongoing season, notching 10 goals and providing four assists in 29 appearances in the Italian top-flight.
Thus, it is of no surprise that he is on the wishlist of Premier League giants Manchester United and Arsenal as well as two of the most successful Serie A teams, Juventus and AC Milan.
Aston Villa want to bolster their squad with the addition of the Bologna striker with the possibility of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League looking likely.
They currently occupy the 5th position on the Premier League standings with 60 points, same as 4th placed Tottenham but have played one more game than Spurs.
The report added that Aston Villa have already met with the representatives of the Netherlands youth international on the possibility of a switch to the club.
