Agent confirms PSG are among the few teams that can afford N161b-rated Chelsea target Osimhen
Published: April 18, 2024
Oscar Damiani, an agent and a knowledgeable figure in French football, has revealed the reason Victor Osimhen's future destination could be limited to just a few clubs, with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain among the top contenders.
Chelsea have also identified the Nigeria international as a priority target for the summer but the stumbling block to a potential deal is that they have to sell some players in order to comply with the Premier League's Financial Fairplay (FFP) regulations.
Osimhen's destination has been narrowed down to the two aforementioned clubs, with the Parisians currently leading the race for his signature.
PSG are considered frontrunners in the race to sign Osimhen because they have a good relationship with Napoli plus the fact that their Portuguese transfer guru Luís Campos used to work with Osimhen at his former club Lille.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year has a release clause of 130 million euros (approximately N161 billion in Nigerian currency) which any interested club has to trigger before he can leave Napoli.
PSG are eager to sign Osimhen in the summer to fill the void left by Kylian Mbappe who is Real Madrid-bound.
"Osimhen, however, is irreplaceable: only play can give something more to the team, but individually you can't find anyone else like him," Oscar Damiani told Radio Punto Nuovo.
"I don't know now if Osimhen will be Mbappé's heir, the PSG managers didn't tell me anything.
"However, there aren't many teams that can afford him, so it's clear that Paris is among the few candidates that they would have the ability to purchase him."
Since landing at Napoli in 2020, Osimhen has mustered 74 goals in 128 appearances across all competitions.
