Ola Aina gets vote of confidence from Super Eagles legend amid Nottingham Forest's battle
Published: May 09, 2024
Nigeria legend Sunday Oliseh has taken to social media to share his thoughts on Super Eagles defender Ola Aina amid Nottingham Forest's battle to beat the drop in the Premier League.
Aina has been one of the standout players in what has been a dismal season for the two-time European champions.
With two matches to the end of the season, Nottingham Forest have their destiny in their own hands but are only three points above the drop zone and face fellow relegation contenders Burnley on the final day of the season.
Since recovering from an injury he sustained at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Aina has picked up from where he left off in Ivory Coast, putting in solid performances for Nottingham Forest.
Originally a winger before changing position to a fullback during his time with the Chelsea youth team, Aina has brought his versatility to the fore this season, with the Nottingham Forest coaches deploying him in multiple positions including left-back, right-back and wing-back.
The athletic defender was tipped for great things as a Chelsea youth team player, helping the Blues win the U21 Premier League, UEFA Youth League and FA Youth Cup, and has lived up to expectations in his professional career.
He has been one of the consistent Nigeria players in their last three appearances at the Africa Cup of Nations and his inclusion in the Team of the Tournament for the 2023 edition is a testament to his outstanding performances in Ivory Coast.
Writing on X, Oliseh said: "Somehow, I just believe so much in Ola Aina’s potential to achieve bigger things in football.
"He seems to possess everything to succeed. Heads up, younger bro. Join me in wishing him well with the relegation struggle."
