Fabrizio Romano confirms Chelsea have contacted agent over deal for Napoli star Victor Osimhen
Published: May 13, 2024
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Chelsea have spoken to the agent of Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen, on the possibility of joining the club.
The Blues are undoubtedly one of the admirers of the Napoli striker with their interest in him dating back to last summer where his huge valuation prevented them from signing him.
They eventually opted to sign Senegal international Nicolas Jackson, who has been hit and miss since moving to Stamford Bridge which has made the club reignite their interest in Osimhen.
However, they are facing stiff opposition from PSG who want to make up for the exit of Kylian Mbappé with the acquisition of the Nigeria international.
The 25-year-old has been said to be more open to moving to the Premier League rather than a return to the Ligue 1 where he had previously represented Lille and this could serve as an advantage for the Stamford Bridge outfit.
In the course of answering the questions on if clubs already have targets for the transfer window or are waiting for the conclusion of the 2024 European championship, Romano revealed that Chelsea have contacted Osimhen's agent.
"They have a shortlist of players, maybe four or five names for each position but you still don't know who is the top target but at the end of day you are already speaking to agents to discuss opportunities."he told Mics' YouTube page.
"For example, Chelsea spoke to different agents for the striker position, the agents of Sesko, Osimhen, the agents of different players."
The two-time European champions are reportedly ready to pay €90m and also offer Romelu Lukaku to Napoli for the signing of the Nigerian striker.
