Ajax insider rules out Premier League-linked striker Akpom staying at Dutch giants

Ajax Amsterdam insider and respected Voetbal International journalist, Lentin Goodijk has all but ruled out the possibility of Chuba Akpom staying put in the Netherlands next season, amid speculation linking the attacker with Premier League clubs ahead of the reopening of the transfer window.
Nottingham Forest and Fulham pushed to complete a deal for the Hale End Academy product in the January transfer window but Ajax blocked his return to England.
Last summer, Akpom transferred to the Amsterdam club as the four-time European champions looked to add to their attacking options.
However, less than a year after his arrival, he is angling for a departure from the Johan Cruyff Arena due to his bit-part role at the club, with Netherlands international Brian Brobbey ahead of him in the pecking order of center forwards.
The 28-year-old has started only ten of the forty-six games contested by the Amsterdam club in the ongoing season and was in action for 1,423 minutes.
Goodijk believes that English Premier League clubs will make another attempt to sign Akpom when the transfer window opens.
"I don't think he will accept sitting on the bench. Certainly not if serious clubs come for him, which I expect," he was quoted as saying by Soccernews.
"It could easily take until August, when the Premier League clubs start to panic a bit. Then they all have it on the list. If he can be picked up for fifteen million euros…
"That is absolutely nothing for Premier League clubs."
Akpom has a contract with Ajax Amsterdam until the end of the 2027-2028 season.
