Aston Villa accept N19b bid from Everton for promising midfielder Iroegbunam
Published: June 18, 2024
It is looking likely that England U20 international of Nigerian descent Tim Iroegbunam will depart Aston Villa ahead of the forthcoming season.
According to Football Insider, Everton have agreed a deal to sign Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam.
As per the report, Aston Villa have decided to end their three-year association with the midfielder in exhange for approximately ten million pounds (around N19 billion in Nigerian currency).
The Lions have opted to sell one of their promising players as they are aiming to generate funds amid worries about complying with Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
Iroegbunam struggled for game time last season after recovering from an injury that ruled him out of the 2023 Fifa U20 World Cup.
Overall, he has appeared in nineteen official matches for Aston Villa, three of which he started, and spent the whole of the 2022-2023 season on loan at Queens Park Rangers, where he registered 2 goals in 32 Championship games.
Tim has three years remaining on his contract with Aston Villa, whom he joined from West Brom in 2021.
Everton are set to beat Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam to the signature of the Anglo-Nigerian starlet.
Iroegbunam has the ability to play as a holding midfielder or a box-to-box midfielder.
