'Does not say Chelsea, PSG wanted me' - Ex-Besiktas star praises Osimhen for his humble nature
Published: September 26, 2024
Former Besiktas forward Nihat Kahveci has lauded Victor Osimhen's character and humility following his performance in the UEFA Europa League on Wednesday night.
The Super Eagles striker contributed his third assist in three games, helping Galatasaray secure a 3-1 victory over PAOK.
Osimhen set up Yunus Akgün for the second goal, which restored the Galatasaray's lead in the second half.
The 25-year-old joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli after a tumultuous summer during which he was linked to PSG, Chelsea, and Al-Ahli.
Despite interest from top clubs, he couldn’t finalize a transfer before the summer window closed in top European nations.
He joined Galatasaray on loan after the Turkish club agreed to cover his wages for the entire season.
Kahveci commended Osimhen's performance and demeanor, emphasizing his lack of arrogance regarding the interest from elite clubs.
Instead of boasting, Osimhen lets his actions on the field speak for him.
Kahveci was quoted as saying by Fanatik: "Victor Osimhen does not say, 'I am a 100 million euro player. PSG wanted me, Chelsea wanted me. I flew, I ran, I scored many goals.
"Maybe Real Madrid will want me, maybe Barcelona will want me.' He does justice to this place in every sense of the game."
While Osimhen has made a strong start at Galatasaray with three assists, he is still awaiting his first goal for the club.
