After Victor Boniface, another Super Eagles star survives car accident in Europe
Published: December 17, 2024
Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru narrowly escaped death after being involved in a car accident on Saturday evening near Bracciano, Italy.
This incident makes Dele-Bashiru the second Super Eagles player to experience a car crash in recent months, following Victor Boniface's accident in Germany.
The crash involving his Lamborghini left the former Manchester City player miraculously unharmed.
Despite the scare, Dele-Bashiru recovered in time to feature in Lazio's humiliating 6-0 defeat to Inter Milan on Monday night.
The Nigerian midfielder, who started from the bench, came on in the second half to replace former Barcelona star Pedro when Lazio were already trailing by four goals.
His introduction, however, could not prevent further damage as Inter's Carlos Augusto and Marcus Thuram added to the visitors' tally, completing a devastating result for Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.
Reports by radiosei.it revealed that Dele-Bashiru was saved by his Dutch teammate, Tijjani Noslin, who rushed to his aid at the accident scene and safely took him home.
It further stated investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing, with Lazio reportedly working to manage the situation discreetly.
The 23-year-old joined Lazio on loan after an impressive spell with Turkish club Hatayspor in the Super Lig.
Since his move to Italy, Dele-Bashiru has had a mixed season, shining in the UEFA Europa League but still finding his feet in Serie A.
He has notched two goals and two assists in four Europa League matches, while scoring only once in eight league appearances for Lazio.
