Victor Boniface deal is off: Al Nassr turn focus to Aston Villa striker in transfer twist
Published: January 30, 2025
Saudi Pro League giants Al Nassr have pulled out of a potential deal for Nigerian forward Victor Boniface and are now finalizing a move for Aston Villa's Jhon Durán.
Boniface had been strongly linked with a switch to Saudi Arabia, with negotiations between his representatives and Al Nassr reaching an advanced stage.
However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the deal was never officially done by the club despite significant progress in talks.
Instead, Al Nassr have shifted their focus to Colombian striker Jhon Durán and are now preparing the necessary documents to complete the transfer.
Aston Villa are set to receive a €77 million fixed fee plus add-ons, with Durán accepting a long-term contract.
The 21-year-old is scheduled for a medical on Thursday before traveling to Saudi Arabia to finalize the move.
This development leaves Boniface’s future uncertain, as the Bayer Leverkusen striker will now have to fight for his play in the team.
The Nigeria international was left out of Bayer Leverkusen's last match in the Champions League against Sparta Prague because a transfer had been on the cards.
Boniface has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen until the end of the 2028-2029 season.
