Cardiff City consider terminating the contract of Super Eagles defender before end of the season

Cardiff City manager Omer Riza has shed light on the uncertain future of Nigerian international Jamilu Collins, who has been deemed surplus to requirements at the club.
Collins, who has struggled for form this season, was keen on securing a transfer during the January window to revive his career.
However, no club made a move for him before the deadline, leaving his situation unresolved.
Despite failing to secure a transfer, Riza remains hopeful that Collins could still find a solution, with some transfer windows around the world still open.
However, the Cardiff boss also hinted that a mutual contract termination could be an option before the end of the season.
Riza confirmed that there had been no recent developments regarding Collins' transfer but suggested that discussions for an agreement remain ongoing.
"Not at the moment," Riza was quoted as saying by Walesonline.
"If every window closes around the world, he will either look to stay or some sort of agreement will be made."
Collins has made just three league appearances for Cardiff City this season, a stark contrast to his earlier prominence with the club.
The Nigerian international now faces a race against time to find a new club, as he hopes to revive his career and earn a recall to the Super Eagles squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Rwanda in March.
Born in Kaduna, Collins made his debut for Nigeria in 2018 and last featured for the Super Eagles in March 2024.
