'An outstanding talent' - Pundit urges clubs to seriously look at Barnsley midfielder Nwakali
Published: February 14, 2025
Barnsley pundit Andy Symcox has called on clubs to monitor the progress of Nigerian midfielder Kelechi Nwakali ahead of the summer transfer window.
Nwakali has been enjoying a strong season with the League One club as they push for a playoff spot in their bid for promotion to the Championship.
With 16 games remaining, Barnsley sit six points behind sixth-placed Huddersfield Town, keeping their promotion hopes alive.
The 26-year-old midfielder has featured in 16 matches across all competitions this season, contributing one goal and one assist.
Despite his relatively modest numbers, Andu believes Nwakali is an underappreciated talent who deserves more recognition.
Speaking to Football League World, Andy described the Nigerian international as an "outstanding talent" who is flying under the radar.
"However, slipping under the radar is Kelechi Nwakali. Other clubs seriously ought to be looking at this young man, as he is an outstanding talent," Andy stated.
Nwakali, who joined Barnsley on a three-year contract, is currently tied to the club until the summer of 2027.
Any potential suitors looking to secure his services in the next transfer window will likely have to make a compelling offer to convince the Tykes to part ways with him.
