Galatasaray striker Osimhen takes season tally to nineteen with brace against Rizespor

Victor Osimhen was the hero for Galatasaray in their 2-1 victory over Rizespor in the Turkish Super Lig on Monday, February 17, 2025. 

The Nigerian forward was a constant threat throughout the match and played a pivotal role in securing the win for his team.

Osimhen gave Galatasaray the lead in the 47th minute with a clinical header from a Przemyslaw Frankowski cross. 

The ball, delivered with precision, was perfectly timed for Osimhen, who made no mistake from close range, sending it into the right side of the net. 

This early goal in the second half helped Galatasaray maintain their dominance in the game.

As Rizespor responded with pressure in search of an equalizer, the match saw several chances for both sides. 

The equalizer for Rizespor came in the 54th minute when Ali Sowe capitalized on a defensive lapse to score past Fernando Muslera. 

However, it was Osimhen who proved to be the match-winner in the 86th minute. 

After a corner kick, he showed great positioning and composure to head home a powerful shot off the inside of the post, giving Galatasaray a vital 2-1 lead.

Despite a few chances for Rizespor, including a header saved by Muslera and some dangerous crosses into the box, Galatasaray held firm and secured all three points. 

Osimhen’s second goal in the match demonstrated his consistency in front of goal, maintaining his reputation as one of the league's top strikers.

Osimhen’s continued clinical performances have been a highlight for Galatasaray this season, with the striker maintaining a remarkable goal-scoring record. 

His 19 goals in 24 appearances underline his importance to the team and his ability to come through in crucial moments.
