Super Eagles forward Simon suffers training ground injury before Nantes v RC Lens

FC Nantes are sweating on the fitness of their star forward, Moses Simon, ahead of their crucial Ligue 1 clash against RC Lens this Sunday. 

The Nigerian international, who has been a standout performer for the Canaries this season, suffered a training ground injury, raising doubts about his participation in the upcoming match.

The Super Eagles winger was forced to cut his training session short on Tuesday due to pain in his heel. 

The injury, which has yet to be fully diagnosed, could leave FC Nantes without one of their key attacking players as they look to bounce back from a series of disappointing results. 

Nantes supporters account, Fan FC Nantes, was the first to report the news, adding that the situation is being closely monitored by the club’s medical team.

The timing of Simon’s injury couldn’t be worse for Nantes, who have already endured a challenging run of form.

 After suffering back-to-back defeats, including a humiliating 7-1 thrashing by AS Monaco, the team is in desperate need of a positive result to stay in contention for a mid-table finish in Ligue 1. 

Simon’s dynamic presence in attack has been one of the few bright spots for the team, and his absence would undoubtedly be a significant blow.

Head coach Antoine Kombouaré is already facing a depleted squad for the upcoming match, with three other key players ruled out. 

Jean-Charles Castelletto will miss the match due to a calf injury sustained against Monaco, while Nicolas Cozza is suspended following a red card. 

Pedro Chirivella is also unavailable after accumulating too many yellow cards, further limiting Kombouaré’s options.

With Simon’s fitness now in question, the Canaries will need to dig deep to secure a result against RC Lens, who have proven to be a tough opponent this season. 

The match will take place at the Stade de la Beaujoire, and Nantes will be hoping that their talisman can recover in time to feature.

If Simon is unable to play, it will be up to his teammates to step up and take on the responsibility of providing the necessary attacking threat. 

Given Nantes' current form and injury woes, this match is critical for the club’s morale and standing in Ligue 1.
