Ethan Nwaneri has been named in Europe's Top 5 Leagues Team of the Week by football statistics website Whoscored following his impressive performance during Arsenal's hard-fought 2-0 win over Leicester City in a Premier League encounter at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.
Europe's top five leagues consists of the English Premier League, Spain's La Liga, German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A and French Ligue 1.
Nwaneri, an England U19 international of Nigerian descent, bagged his first senior assist in the closing minutes of the game against the Foxes.
Super-sub Mikel Merino superbly headed in Nwaneri's cross to break the deadlock with ten minutes remaining.
The Hale End Academy graduate was Arsenal's top performer against Leicester City, coming agonizingly close to scoring as he struck the woodwork twice.
He completed seven successful take-ons against Leicester, more than any other Premier League player on matchday 25, registered a game-high four shots with two on target, won two aerial duels and made two key passes, while completing 90.9 percent of his passes.
Only Leicester City defender Victor Kristiansen (4) made more tackles than Nwaneri (3).
The Premier League has contributed the most players to the Team of the Week, with Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, Brighton & Hove defender Yankuba Minteh, Bournemouth's Ryan Christie and Manchester City's Omar Marmoush also making the cut.
This season, Nwaneri has scored seven goals in 24 appearances, logging 790 minutes in all competitions.
