13 goal involvements in Ligue 1: Simon's goal from the spot helps Nantes beat Lens
Published: February 23, 2025
Super Eagles winger Moses Simon was on target as Nantes claimed an impressive 3-1 victory over Lens on Sunday evening.
The hosts took the lead through Louis Leroux in the first half before Simon doubled their advantage from the penalty spot on the hour mark.
Neil El Aynaoui pulled one back for Lens, but Meschak Elia sealed the win for Nantes with a goal in the 95th minute.
Simon was a constant threat throughout the match, completing 90% of his passes and making two key passes.
The Nigerian international also delivered four crosses, registered one shot on target, created two big chances, and completed four successful dribbles.
The 29-year-old has been in fine form for Nantes this season, scoring six goals and providing seven assists in 22 matches across all competitions.
In twenty-one appearances in the French top-flight this term, Simon has scored six goals and has seven assists.
Nantes are five points above the drop zone in the provisional Ligue 1 standings, after their win against Lens.
Simon will be looking to maintain his impressive form as he prepares to help Nigeria in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March.
