Nantes dazzler Moses Simon named in French Ligue 1 TOTW after sixth goal of the season
Published: February 24, 2025
Moses Simon has been recognized for his outstanding performance in the latest round of matches in the French Ligue 1, with football statistics website Whoscored.com naming the Nantes forward in its Team of the Week.
After an injury scare during training, the Nigeria national teamer successfully passed a fitness test before facing Lens in their matchday 23 showdown at Stade de la Beaujoire.
Simon doubled Nantes advantage from the spot in the 60th minute after Jean-Charles Castelletto's shot was handled by a Lens defender.
In a 4-3-3 formation, Simon occupies the left side of attack, with OGC Nice forward Gaëtan Laborde playing centrally and AS Saint-Étienne's Irvin Cardona deployed as a right winger.
The midfield consists of Zakaria Aboukhlal (Toulouse), Hicham Boudaoui (OGC Nice) and Pierre Ekwah (Saint-Étienne).
RC Lens goalkeeper Mathew Ryan has been chosen in goal and protected by a back four comprising Aron Dønnum (Toulouse), Jubal (Auxerre), Clément Akpa (Auxerre) and Nicolas Pallois (Nantes).
Simon attempted two shots with one on target, made one key pass, registered a game-high five take-ons, one less than the entire Lens team, and was the joint-most fouled player (3).
The 29-year-old was successful in ninety percent of his passes, and was awarded a rating of 8.25.
He has thirteen goal involvements (6 goals, 7 assists) in the French Ligue 1 so far this season.
