Osimhen sends strong message to Galatasaray: Sack Okan Buruk and I am out
Published: March 19, 2025
Victor Osimhen has made a firm declaration about his future at Galatasaray, stating that he will leave the club if head coach Okan Buruk is dismissed.
The Nigerian striker, currently at the Super Eagles camp in Kigali preparing for Friday’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda, has shown unwavering support for Buruk amid growing criticism.
Buruk has been under intense scrutiny following Galatasaray’s recent setbacks, including a disappointing defeat to AZ Alkmaar in Europe and poor results against Fenerbahçe and Kasımpaşa in the Super League.
Frustrated fans have taken to social media, calling for his resignation. However, Osimhen has stood firmly by his coach, making his stance clear to the club’s management.
"If he’s not in Galatasaray, I’m not in either next year,” Osimhen declared, according to habersarikirmizi.com.
The 26-year-old forward, who joined Galatasaray after extensive discussions with Buruk in Italy, has developed a close relationship with the coach. He believes in Buruk’s vision and values his leadership, making it clear that any decision to part ways with him could influence his own future at the club.
“If there is no coach, then I am out next year too,” Osimhen reiterated, reinforcing his position.
While the striker remains focused on Nigeria’s World Cup qualifier against Rwanda, his comments have caused a stir in Turkey.
Galatasaray’s management now faces a difficult decision regarding Buruk’s future, knowing that Osimhen’s departure could be a major consequence of any coaching change.
Osimhen’s words underline his loyalty and the strong bond he shares with Buruk, adding another layer of complexity to the ongoing debate over Galatasaray’s leadership.
As the Super Eagles prepare for their crucial match in Kigali, the situation in Istanbul continues to unfold, with Osimhen’s stance likely to play a key role in Galatasaray’s next move.
