'Osimhen won't come' - CSKA midfielder insists Russia are not scared of depleted Super Eagles

CSKA Moscow's Russia national team attacking midfielder Matvey Kislyak has downplayed the challenge posed by the Nigerian national team ahead of their friendly on June 6, highlighting the absence of marquee forward Victor Osimhen as a key factor.

The Super Eagles have been forced into changes after several withdrawals, prompting the Nigeria Football Federation to announce a modified squad for the much-anticipated friendly.

In addition to Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey and Stanley Nwabali, Nigeria coach Eric Chelle will also be without Ola Aina, Kelechi Iheanacho, Samuel Chukwueze, Umar Sadiq, Wilfred Ndidi and Nathan Tella — all of whom have withdrawn due to injury or personal reasons.

While the absence of key players is undoubtedly a setback, Nigeria;s squad remains impressive, with several Europe-based stars such as Victor Boniface, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Frank Onyeka, Chrisantus Uche and Moses Simon — all currently on the books of top-five European League clubs — making the trip to Moscow.

Matvey Kislyak is in confident mood ahead of Friday's friendly, viewing the clash as a valuable opportunity rather than a daunting task.

Speaking to Championat, he said: "There are many famous footballers playing for the Nigerian national team. Some won't come, yes. Osimhen won't come.

"I think it will be a good match. Nigeria doesn't cause fear. It's interesting to test one's strength."

Eighteen of the invited Nigerian players are already in Moscow ahead of the team's first training session on Tuesday.
