No going back: Super Eagles striker Osimhen joins Galatasaray, subject to medical
Published: July 30, 2025
Nigerian international Victor Osimhen is on the verge of finalizing a permanent transfer to Turkish champions Galatasaray, following confirmation from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano that the 26-year-old will arrive in Istanbul on Wednesday, July 30.
The final paperwork has been signed, with the striker scheduled to undergo a medical on Thursday.
Osimhen spent the 2024–25 season on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, where he played a transformative role.
The forward scored 37 goals and added eight assists in 41 appearances, helping the club secure both the Süper Lig title and Turkish Cup.
His performances have made him a beloved figure among Galatasaray fans and prompted the club to pursue a full transfer.
The deal, reportedly worth €75 million, includes a €40 million upfront payment and €35 million in future installments.
Napoli have also inserted a 10% sell-on clause and an “anti-Italy” provision, which prevents Osimhen from joining another Serie A club before 2027.
Despite significant interest from Premier League sides such as Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal, as well as a rejected €160 million offer from Saudi club Al-Hilal, Osimhen chose to return to Istanbul.
His decision underlines his bond with the Galatasaray project and its passionate supporters, who are preparing a hero’s welcome at Istanbul Airport.
Osimhen is expected to be unveiled later this week, as Galatasaray fans look forward to another prolific campaign from their talisman.
