'You are next' - Felix Agu tells Werder Bremen teammate to snub Germany for Nigeria
Published: June 04, 2025
Felix Agu has called on his Werder Bremen teammate Justin Njinmah to follow his lead and represent Nigeria at international level, after making his debut for the Super Eagles during the Unity Cup in London.
Agu, 25, featured in a friendly match against Jamaica, marking his first appearance for Nigeria since switching allegiance from Germany.
Born in Germany to Nigerian parents, Agu previously played two friendlies for Germany’s U21 team in 2019, but has now committed his international future to the country of his heritage.
Reacting to his Super Eagles debut, Agu posted a photo on Instagram with the caption: “Proud.”
The post quickly attracted attention from fans and teammates, including Njinmah, who replied: “My brothaaa” with a white heart emoji. Agu responded with a clear message: “u next!!”
Agu’s response has been interpreted as a call for Njinmah to snub Germany and declare for Nigeria.
The pair have formed a strong bond at Werder Bremen and share Nigerian roots, making the possibility of playing together for the Super Eagles increasingly realistic.
While Njinmah, 24, has yet to be capped by either Germany or Nigeria at any level, his performances in the Bundesliga this season have not gone unnoticed.
With both players eligible for Nigeria through their parents, Agu’s public encouragement could influence Njinmah’s international decision.
As Nigeria continues to attract dual-nationality talents from Europe, Agu’s debut and open call to Njinmah highlight the growing appeal of the Super Eagles among players with Nigerian heritage.
