Benin City-born CB who wants to play for Nigeria among seven players released by Liverpool
Published: June 06, 2025
Following the conclusion of the 2024-2025 season, Premier League champions Liverpool have announced their retained and released list.
Liverpool have released seven players, including promising Benin City-born centre-back Louis Enahoro-Marcus, who holds a British passport
Aged 18, Enahoro-Marcus is open to representing Nigeria at international level but the Flying Eagles coaches have not yet approached him regarding a call-up for the 2025 Fifa U20 World Cup.
He joined the Liverpool Academy as an U10 after being spotted in grassroots football in Manchester by scouts Wayne Woods and Ricky Heywood.
Enahoro-Marcus has been described as a commanding centre-half and signed a scholarship deal ahead of the 2023-2024 season.
In his final season at Liverpool, he totaled seventeen appearances in the U18 Premier League and FA Youth Cup, scoring once in a 2-2 draw against Leeds United back in September.
Enahoro-Marcus is set to depart Liverpool when his contract expires on June 30, 2025, having not made a first team appearance or featured in Premier League 2.
Louis is the younger brother of Darrin Enahoro-Marcus, who previously played for Watford's academy team.
The other players released by Liverpool are Dominic Corness, Harry Evers, Lee Jonas, Jakub Ojrzynski, Jacob Poytress and Reece Trueman.
