Official: Younger brother of Eberechi Eze released by Crystal Palace
Published: June 09, 2025
Premier League side Crystal Palace have officially released Chimaechi Eze, the younger brother of first-team star Eberechi Eze, following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season.
The 22-year-old forward, who joined the Eagles at the start of the 2023/24 campaign after impressing during a trial, was one of 17 academy players let go by the club as part of their end-of-season squad update.
Chimaechi showed early promise during his stint with the London club, notably scoring a spectacular goal against Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS NEXT Pro Invitational during preseason.
Operating primarily as an attacking midfielder or second striker, his technical ability initially caught the attention of Palace's academy staff.
However, despite his bright start, Chimaechi found regular playing time hard to come by with the U21 side.
He made just two appearances across the EFL Trophy and Premier League 2 and failed to register a goal or assist.
Born in England, Chimaechi is eligible to represent both Nigeria and England at international level, mirroring the situation of his older brother Eberechi, who later chose England.
With the summer transfer window now open, the young attacker will be hoping to secure a new club where he can continue his development and reignite the promise he showed at the start of his Palace journey.
