Confirmed: Nine Nigerian youngsters retained by Arsenal with two offered new deals
Published: June 09, 2025
Arsenal have submitted their retained and released list to the Premier League following the conclusion of the 2024-2025 season.
The Gunners have decided to keep nine young players of Nigerian descent at the club for the upcoming season, with two of those players given the opportunity to sign new contracts.
The nine retained players include goalkeeper Khari Ranson; defenders Samuel Chinedu, Cam'ron Ismail, Josh Nichols, and Josh Ogunnaike; midfielders Ethan Nwaneri and Ife Ibrahim; and forwards Daniel Oyetunde and Andre Harriman-Annous.
Oyetunde and Ismail, both second-year scholars, have been offered their first professional contracts ahead of the start of pre-season preparations.
Ismail has been on the books of Arsenal since the age of fifteen, while Oyetunde is also a product of the Hale End Academy, having joined the club at U15 level.
Last season, Oyetunde scored twice in the U18 Premier League and also made appearances in the FA Youth Cup.
Ismail featured in 22 matches across the U18 Premier League, Premier League 2, UEFA Youth League and EFL Trophy.
Only Nwaneri and Nichols from the aforementioned group of Nigeria-eligible players made first-team appearances last term.
Ranson, Ibrahim, Ismail, Ogunnaike and Harriman-Annous were involved in first-team training sessions on multiple occasions last season, but none were included in a senior matchday squad.
