2 goals, 1 assist: Man Utd striker Chido Obi turning heads at Maurice Revello tournament
Published: June 11, 2025
Chido Obi, Manchester United’s promising young forward, continues to make waves at the Maurice Revello Tournament in Toulon, France.
The 17-year-old Denmark Under-20 international scored in Denmark’s 3-0 group-stage victory over Japan, taking his tally to two goals in addition to an assist in the opener versus Mexico
His performances highlight his growing reputation as one of Europe’s brightest talents.
Obi’s journey with Manchester United began last season after his move from Arsenal.
He quickly made an impact, scoring a hat-trick in just 14 minutes on his first start for the Under-18s.
His standout performances included seven goals in three FA Youth Cup matches, which earned him a senior debut in February during United’s Premier League defeat at Tottenham Hotspur.
By the season’s end, Obi had made eight first-team appearances and scored twice during United’s post-season tour in Asia against Hong Kong.
At the Maurice Revello Tournament, a prestigious competition where former United stars like Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes have previously excelled, Obi has thrived against older opponents.
He provided an assist in Denmark’s 3-3 draw with Mexico, followed by a long-range strike in a 2-0 win over Congo.
His goal against Japan, a scrappy finish from high pressing, opened the scoring and showcased his work rate and instincts in the box.
Obi’s performances cap an impressive season of development, positioning him as a key prospect in United’s Academy and a player to watch in the coming years.
