'Makes the difference' – Former Atalanta forward says Lookman would be perfect for Napoli
Published: June 11, 2025
Former Atalanta forward Germán Denis has thrown his support behind a potential summer move for Nigerian international Ademola Lookman to Serie A champions Napoli, describing the forward as a "perfect" addition to the Partenopei squad.
Lookman, who joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig in 2022, has enjoyed a stellar spell in Bergamo.
His explosive performances, capped by a memorable hat-trick in the 2024 UEFA Europa League final, have attracted interest from top European clubs, including Napoli, Juventus, and Arsenal.
With speculation mounting over a possible exit from Atalanta ahead of the new season, Denis believes the 27-year-old has what it takes to thrive under the pressure at Napoli.
In an interview with Radio Goal, as reported by Napoli Magazine, Denis praised Lookman's growth and his ability to impact games decisively.
"Lookman would be perfect for Napoli, he has had impressive growth," Denis said.
"He has become a champion and today he makes a difference. He is a player who would be great at Napoli."
Lookman's versatility and eye for goal have made him one of Atalanta's standout players in recent seasons.
His emergence as a key attacking threat has coincided with the club's resurgence on the European stage.
As the summer transfer window intensifies, Lookman's future remains uncertain.
However, his sights are reportedly set on continuing his rise by securing a move to a club that will offer him the platform to compete at the highest level.
With Napoli aiming to bounce back to domestic dominance and make a deeper push in Europe, Lookman could prove to be a key piece in their attacking puzzle—if the deal materializes.
