Official: Super Eagles left-back among two Nigerians released by Cardiff City
Published: June 12, 2025
With a statement on the official website, relegated Championship club Cardiff City have finally announced their retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2024-2025 season.
The Bluebirds have confirmed that Super Eagles left-back Jamilu Collins will not be offered a new deal, meaning he is set to leave the club as a free agent upon the expiry of his contract on June 30, 2025.
Cardiff City attempted to sell the Nigeria national teamer in the winter transfer market without success.
Signed from German outfit SC Paderborn in 2022, Collins appeared in forty-four matches for Cardiff City, scoring one goal while producing four assists.
He struggled to regain his place in the first team following a pre-season injury setback, with his last appearance for the Welsh outfit coming in November 2024.
The 30-year-old has represented Croatian clubs NK Pomorac, HNK Sibenik and Istra 1961, plus Slovenian outfit NK Krka in the past.
Also heading for the exit is 21-year-old Adeteye Gbadehan, who, in addition to Nigeria, is eligible to represent both the United States and England at international level.
A box-to-box midfielder, Gbadehan made just one appearance for Cardiff City's first team, featuring in a League Cup clash against Southampton in August 2024.
