AEK Athens in advanced talks to sign Rangers' Nigeria international striker Dessers
Published: June 15, 2025
AEK Athens are making significant headway in their pursuit of Nigerian international Cyril Dessers, with a deal now reportedly within reach.
According to Sport FM Greece, talks with Rangers are progressing well, and there is growing optimism that an agreement could be finalised as early as next week.
The 30-year-old forward has emerged as a priority target for AEK’s incoming head coach, Marko Nikolić, who had already approved the move even before his appointment was officially announced.
Dessers' profile and experience align perfectly with the tactical vision of the new boss, further accelerating AEK Athens push to secure his signature.
Crucially, the striker is fully committed to the transfer, with his representatives actively engaged in negotiations and playing a key role in facilitating talks between AEK and Rangers.
Dessers, who joined Rangers from Cremonese in 2023, could be set for a fresh chapter in the Greek Super League as AEK look to bolster their attacking options.
All signs point to a swift resolution, with only final details left to be ironed out between the clubs.
Dessers has scored 51 goals in 109 matches across two seasons at Rangers and was the top scorer in the Scottish Premiership last term.
