Why Super Eagles defender Igoh Ogbu and Tijani were missing from Slavia's training camp squad
Published: June 16, 2025
Nigerian duo Igoh Ogbu and Muhamed Tijani will not take part in Slavia Prague's first training camp ahead of the start of the 2025-2026 season.
The central defender and forward were not part of Slavia Prague's travelling squad to Aigen, where the Czech champions have traditionally attended summer training camps in recent years.
Ogbu was granted an extended vacation due to international commitments with the Super Eagles in May and June.
The 25-year-old earned his senior debut in the Unity Cup clash against Ghana, started in the penalty shootout victory over Jamaica, and later featured as a late substitute in the 1–1 draw against Russia in Moscow on June 6.
Ogbu ended speculation about his future just before the Unity Cup, signing a one-year contract extension that will keep him at Slavia Prague until December 2027.
Tijani has returned from his loan spell at Plymouth Argyle but was left out of the squad by manager Jindřich Trpišovský due to illness.
Slavia Prague's pre-season training camp has been structured into two phases, with the fitness segment scheduled from June 16 to 25, followed by the match phase from June 30 to July 11.
During the second stage of the camp, manager Trpišovský’s side will play three friendly matches in Austria, taking on Universitatea Cluj on July 2, FC Blau-Weiß Linz on July 5, and Aris Limassol on July 9.
Slavia Prague will conclude their pre-season preparations with a friendly against Dynamo Dresden at the Fortuna Arena on July 13.
