Club and country interest: Midfielder on Eric Chelle's radar set to sign new Arsenal deal

Arsenal midfielder Ethan Nwaneri is set to sign a new long-term contract with the north London club, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The 18-year-old is expected to follow in the footsteps of Myles Lewis-Skelly in committing his future to the Gunners after a standout season.
Nwaneri, who made headlines with his performances in the 2024/25 campaign, featured in 37 matches across all competitions, netting nine goals and providing two assists.
His progress under Mikel Arteta has drawn the attention of top European sides, but Arsenal are keen to tie him down amid growing external interest.
Despite his allegiance to England at youth level, Nwaneri is on the radar of Nigeria's Super Eagles, with head coach Eric Chelle reportedly keeping an eye on the London-born midfielder as the team prepares for the resumption of 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.
Nwaneri and Chelsea centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo are among the dual-national players being monitored.
However, sources close to the player confirm that there has been no direct contact from the Nigeria Football Federation, Chelle, or any of their representatives.
No formal approach has been made to Nwaneri, his family, or his camp regarding a potential international switch.
With his club future set to be resolved soon, Nwaneri’s next major decision could revolve around his international allegiance.
For now, Arsenal are expected to announce his new contract in the coming weeks, reaffirming their commitment to nurturing homegrown talent.
Nwaneri became the Premier League’s youngest-ever player in 2022 and has since grown into one of England’s brightest midfield prospects.
His extension would be a major boost for Arsenal as they continue to build a squad around a core of exciting young talents.
