One week, one trouble: Sadiq stirs controversy again, spotted in Valencia kit amid Getafe interest
Published: June 18, 2025
Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar has sparked fresh controversy online after being spotted wearing a Valencia jersey during his holiday, amid growing interest from Getafe.
The Nigerian forward, who spent the latter part of last season on loan at Valencia, reignited his form at the Mestalla following a disappointing start to the campaign with Real Sociedad.
Last week, Sadiq attracted attention on social media shortly after causing controversy for his comments in which he allegedly took a dig at Real Sociedad, further straining his relationship with the club.
According to Spanish sports daily Estadio Deportivo, Sadiq was seen donning Valencia's orange away kit, fueling rumours that a permanent move to the La Liga side or another club could be on the cards.
The move has reignited controversy for the Nigerian international, as he remains a Real Sociedad player but was seen publicly sporting a Valencia shirt — raising further questions about his future.
Following a strong loan spell at Valencia, the 28-year-old has attracted interest from multiple clubs as the summer transfer window intensifies.
Among the suitors are La Liga side Getafe, as well as clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
Meanwhile, Real Sociedad is reportedly eager to offload Sadiq and has informed his representatives that he is not part of new manager Sergio Francisco's plans.
The club is keen to resolve his situation before preseason begins on July 7 and has urged his agents to find a new destination.
However, no club has yet been willing to meet the €10 million valuation placed on him by Real Sociedad.
As a result, the club is open to another loan deal under terms similar to his stint at Valencia.
