Napoli in the market for a winger: Former Atalanta star favours Lookman over Liverpool forward

Former Atalanta forward Nicola Amoruso has backed Nigerian international Ademola Lookman as the ideal winger for Napoli, placing him ahead of other potential targets, including Liverpool's Federico Chiesa.
Lookman has been in superb form since joining Atalanta in the summer of 2022 and is now being strongly linked with a move to the reigning Serie A champions ahead of the summer transfer window.
He is widely viewed as a potential replacement for Georgian star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who departed for Paris Saint-Germain during the winter window despite efforts to renew his contract.
In addition to Lookman, Napoli are reportedly exploring options such as Liverpool's Federico Chiesa, Bologna's Dan Ndoye, and RB Leipzig's Antonio Nusa as they look to strengthen their attacking line.
Sharing his thoughts on the most suitable option for Napoli among the players linked to the club, Amoruso expressed a clear preference for Ademola Lookman.
Amoruso, speaking on TMW Radio, via Milan News, dismissed Liverpool-linked winger Federico Chiesa as too risky for Napoli and praised Lookman's consistency and Serie A experience as decisive advantages.
"Lookman, I am for players who have already been tested in Italy and are an absolute certainty," he said.Â
"He skips past his man, scores, makes assists, he would make the difference for Napoli too, and I think Conte knows that too. I see Chiesa as a big question mark, he would be a big gamble, and Napoli needs more certainty."
The 27-year-old Nigerian forward was pivotal in Atalanta's campaign, scoring 15 goals and providing five assists in 31 Serie A appearances—a form that helped Gian Piero Gasperini's side clinch a UEFA Champions League spot.
With Napoli manager Antonio Conte keen to rebuild a side capable of challenging domestically and in Europe, Lookman's proven Serie A track record may give him the edge as the transfer window heats up.
