Slavia centre-back Igoh Ogbu achieves career-best market value after Super Eagles debut

Slavia Prague centre-back Igoh Ogbu has reached the highest market valuation of his career, according to the latest update from football statistics website Transfermarkt.

The 25-year-old defender, who made his debut for Nigeria in the Unity Cup earlier this month, is now valued at €11 million, €1 million more than his previous mark in April 2025.

Ogbu received his first senior call-up for Nigeria’s 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March but remained an unused substitute in both fixtures.

He eventually made his Super Eagles debut in May, playing the full 90 minutes in a 2–1 win over Ghana, followed by another complete performance against Jamaica in the Unity Cup final.

His market surge comes not only on the back of his international breakthrough but also after signing a contract extension with Slavia Prague and playing a pivotal role in the club’s title-winning campaign.

Slavia secured the Chance League title with four matches to spare, with Ogbu contributing two goals in 34 appearances across all competitions and wearing the captain's armband on multiple occasions.

Ogbu now stands as the second most valuable player in both the Czech top flight and Slavia Prague, and ranks sixteenth among all Nigerian footballers by market value.

Despite the recent contract renewal, Slavia Prague manager Jindřich Trpišovský has admitted that a summer departure cannot be ruled out for the centre-back.
