Done deal: FC Midtjylland sign striker Friday Etim from sister club
Published: June 20, 2025
With a statement on the official website, Danish Superliga club FC Midtjylland have announced the signing of Friday Etim from sister club CD Mafra.
Etim is a product of DN10 Academy, a grassroots football club owned by retired Nigerian forward Dickson Nwakaeme - elder brother of 2017 Super Eagles invitee Anthony Nwakaeme.
The 23-year-old striker ended his association with CD Mafra after putting pen to paper on a four-year contract, tying him to the Wolves until the end of the 2028-2029 season.
Lagos-born Etim previously featured for Portuguese side Vizela, where he emerged as the U23 team’s top scorer before securing a move to CD Mafra in 2023.
In his final season at CD Mafra, he directly participated in 13 goals but could not prevent the club from suffering relegation.
Etim managed two goals in 21 appearances in the Portuguese top-flight before joining CD Mafra.
In his first words as a player of FC Midtjylland, Etim stated: ""I'm really happy to be here. It's a big step up for me, and I'm both grateful and motivated to seize the opportunity.
"It was a tough year, but personally I got to show what I can contribute offensively.
"I am a striker who works hard, makes a lot of deep runs and wants to create chances – both for myself and my teammates. And of course I love to score goals."
Etim concluded by saying that he wants to help FC Midtjylland win the Superliga and do well in next season's Europa League.
