Flying Eagles star Daniel Daga scores first Eliteserien goal as Molde edge Valerenga in thriller

Flying Eagles midfielder Daniel Daga opened his goalscoring account in the Norwegian Eliteserien on Sunday, coming off the bench to help Molde seal a dramatic 3-2 victory over Vålerenga at the Intility Arena.

Touted as one of Nigeria's brightest young prospects, the 18-year-old joined Molde from FC One Rocket during the January transfer window.

Molde manager Per-Mathias Høgmo's tactical substitution proved decisive, with Daga replacing Martin Hestad in the 76th minute and injecting much-needed energy into the visitors' midfield.

The 2023 Fifa U20 World Cup star made his presence felt almost immediately, unleashing a powerful effort that forced a fine save from goalkeeperJacob Storevik.

Moments later, Daga capitalised on a clever flick from captain Magnus Wolff Eikrem to drill a clinical finish past a helpless defence, restoring parity with ten minutes to play and swinging momentum firmly in Molde's favour.

The goal marked Daga's first in Norway's top-flight, adding to his earlier strike in the Norwegian Cup on April 13, when he scored in a 7–0 rout of Elnesvagen & Omegn IL.

He also notched an assist in that same game, setting up Veton Berisha in stoppage time.

Daga has now logged 101 minutes of Eliteserien action, and Sunday's performance will only strengthen his case for increased involvement as the season progresses.
