Full list of 21 players in camp as Super Eagles begin CHAN preparations in Ikenne

The home-based Super Eagles, known as the CHAN Eagles, officially opened their training camp on Monday in Ikenne, Ogun State, as they prepare for the African Nations Championship (CHAN), allnigeriasocer.com reports.

The camp, held at the Remo Stars Sports Institute, Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, marks the start of an intensive preparation phase for the tournament, which features players from domestic leagues across Africa.

The first training session, led by Head Coach Eric Chelle, began at 7:00 PM under the floodlights, signaling the team’s commitment to early preparations. 

The evening session included tactical drills, fitness exercises, and team-building activities to foster cohesion. 

Coach Chelle, renowned for his disciplined approach and tactical expertise, focused on assessing the players’ physical readiness and establishing the team’s playing philosophy.

Twenty-one players participated in Monday’s session, displaying notable energy and commitment. 

Drawn from various Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs, these players form the core of the squad that will represent Nigeria. 

The players in camp include: Nduka Junior (Remo Stars), Harrison Austin (Ikorodu City), Lawal Mustapha (Shooting Stars), Abdulrafiu Taiwo (Rivers United), Temitope Vincent (Plateau United), Adedayo Olanipekun (Remo Stars), Adelani Shola (Ikorodu City), Nurudeen Badmos (Kwara United), Sadiq Ismail (Remo Stars), Taofeek Otaniyi (Rivers United), Kayode Bankole (Remo Stars), Ani Henry (Rivers United), Egbe Stephen (Rivers United), Atule Joseph (Enyimba), Tochukwu Michael (Remo Stars), Aniekeme Okon (Rivers United), Ayomide Cole (Ikorodu City), Sikiru Alimi (Remo Stars), Afeez Bankole (Kwara United), Leonard Ngenge (Ikorodu City), and Hadi Haruna (Remo Stars).

An additional 14 invited players are expected to join the camp on Tuesday, July 8, completing the provisional squad.

Their delayed arrival, due to logistical arrangements and club commitments, is anticipated to enhance the team’s depth and competition for starting spots.

Nigeria, runners-up in the 2018 edition, have been placed in Group D of the 19-team tournament, alongside defending champions Senegal, as well as Sudan and Congo.
