Arsenal youth product Shuaib confirms transfer to Real Sociedad after trial at Brighton
Published: July 15, 2025
Quad-national midfielder Zac Shuaib has taken to Instagram to confirm that his transfer to Spanish outfit Real Sociedad is done and dusted, approximately two weeks after he was released by Premier League giants Arsenal.
Born in London, he is eligible to represent the national teams of Nigeria, England, Spain and India at international level.
The 18-year-old, a product of Arsenal's prestigious Hale End Academy, has signed his first professional contract with Real Sociedad.
He attracted interest from several clubs and underwent a trial with Brighton & Hove Albion before ultimately choosing to join Real Sociedad.
Shuaib featured as a trialist for the Seagulls in a 5-1 loss to Southampton in an U18 Premier League fixture four months ago.
The central midfielder will be part of Real Sociedad's C team, which will compete in the Tercera Federación – Group 4 next season.
Fulfilling a long-held family dream, the young midfielder will now don Real Sociedad's blue and white colours in the upcoming season.
To celebrate the move, Shuaib posted a throwback photo of himself as a child wearing a Real Sociedad jersey, highlighting the deep personal connection behind his transfer.
Nigeria international Umar Sadiq is currently on the books of Real Sociedad and has started pre-season training with the La Liga side amid speculation over his future.
