Former Barcelona and Liverpool forward Adekanye mutually parts ways with Turkish club
Published: July 29, 2025
Through official channels, Turkish First League club Amedspor have announced the mutual parting of ways with Ibadan-born forward Bobby Adekanye.
Amedspor thanked the dual-national player for his efforts at the club and wished him success in the next stages of his career.
Adekanye joined Amedspor in the January transfer window and went on to make seventeen appearances in the second tier of Turkish football and provided an assist.
He spent the formative years of his career in the esteemed youth academies of Barcelona, Ajax, PSV Eindhoven and Liverpool — four of the most iconic institutions in European football.
Adekanye, who primarily operates from the right wing but is equally effective playing just behind the striker, was once regarded as one of the most exciting young prospects in Europe.
His technical ability, pace and flair were honed at La Masia, Barcelona’s legendary youth system.
His senior career has since taken him to several top-flight clubs, including Italian Serie A outfit Lazio, Eredivisie club ADO Den Haag and Spanish team Cadiz.
Adekanye has represented the Netherlands at U16, U17 and U20 level.
