Official: Sparta Rotterdam loan out 2023 Flying Eagles invitee once on the books of Arsenal
Published: August 16, 2025
With a statement on the official website, Sparta Rotterdam have announced that Arsenal youth product Joel Ideho has temporarily parted ways with the Dutch Eredivisie club.
The exciting winger has joined FC Volendam on loan, with no purchase option included in the deal.
Ideho caught the eye during a Flying Eagles training camp in Abuja in 2023 but was left out of the final squad for the Africa Cup of Nations after issues with his Nigerian passport.
During his time at Arsenal, he was known for scoring spectacular goals for the youth teams but departed the Emirates Stadium outfit in the summer of 2023 without making his senior debut though he trained with the first team on several occasions.
Following his departure from the Emirates, the Tilburg-born winger signed for ADO Den Haag, where he tallied 20 goal involvements in 53 appearances across all competitions.
He moved to Sparta Rotterdam in February 2025, featuring in four Eredivisie matches before sealing the temporary switch to Volendam.
Ideho still has a contract with Sparta Rotterdam until the end of the 2027-2028 season.
