Official: TSG Hoffenheim loan out key Flying Eagles centre-back to Wolfsberger AC
Published: August 20, 2025
Through a statement on the official website, Wolfsberger AC have announced the loan signing of Nigeria U20 international Emmanuel Chukwu.
The TSG Hoffenheim youth teamer has joined Wolfsberger AC on loan for the remainder of the 2025-2026 season.
A right footed centre-back, Chukwu was a key member of the Flying Eagles squad at the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations, starting every match contested by the Nigerian U20 national team.
During the tournament in Egypt, the 18-year-old helped the Flying Eagles post three clean sheets and scored from the spot in the shootout wins over Senegal and Egypt.
Since joining Hoffenheim, Chukwu has yet to make his senior debut and has not been called up for a first team game.
He transferred to Hoffenheim from Nigerian grassroots team Grassrunners Football Club in February 2025.
Wolfsberger AC, who finished fourth in the Austrian Bundesliga last season, are competing in the UEFA Conference League and face Omonia Nicosia on Wednesday evening.
However, Chukwu will not be available to make his Wolfsberger AC debut after his transfer was finalised too late for him to be registered for the competition.
The 18-year-old links up with former Heartland defender Chibuike Nwaiwu at Wolfsberger AC.
