Brentford midfielder Onyeka rules out move abroad as he awaits residence permit

Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that Nigeria international Frank Onyeka has ruled out the possibility of a permanent move abroad, just eleven days before the close of the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old midfielder joined Brentford from Danish side Midtjylland on July 20, 2021, in what was briefly the club's record transfer before the arrival of Kristoffer Ajer from Celtic the following day.

Since then, Onyeka has been a consistent presence at the West London outfit, apart from a loan spell at FC Augsburg last season.

Having now lived in England for four years, Onyeka will be eligible to apply for a UK residence permit within the next twelve months.

This has strengthened his determination to remain in the Premier League rather than seek a permanent switch overseas.

The FC Ebedei product returned late to Brentford's pre-season training due to his involvement with the Super Eagles at the end of last term.

He featured in the club’s Premier League opener, coming on as a 69th minute substitute in the 3-1 defeat to Ola Aina’s Nottingham Forest.

Since his arrival from Denmark, Onyeka has made 79 appearances for the Bees, registering one goal and four assists.

With two years left on his contract, the midfielder is expected to secure his UK residence permit during his current spell in England.
