Official: Ipswich Town sign Nigerian players from Arsenal and Everton on scholarship deals
Published: August 22, 2025
With a statement on the official website, Championship outfit Ipswich Town have announced their new intake of academy scholars for the 2025-2026 season.
The Tractor Boys confirmed that a total of eleven new players were welcomed to the club, including Nigeria-eligible duo Jayden Adetiba and Kellyan Olawole.
Adetiba and Olawole visited Portman Road last month to put pen to paper on scholarship deals, with their family and friends in attendance.
According to EFL regulations, all U17 players are required to begin the 2025–26 season on scholarship terms, enabling them to continue their development within a club's academy before becoming eligible to sign a professional contract upon turning 17.
While Adetiba has linked up with Ipswich Town from Arsenal, Olawole arrives as an U17 recruit from Everton.
A centre-back by trade, Olawole is a native of Salford, Greater Manchester, while Adetiba hails from Northfleet, Kent.
Adetiba is eligible to represent three nations at international level – Nigeria, England and the United Arab Emirates.
However, it is the UAE who are currently at the front of the queue for his services, having already capped the youngster at U17 level.
The 2009-born striker played a key role in UAE's qualification for the 2025 Fifa U17 World Cup, registering two assists in four appearances during the qualifying campaign.
Jayden and Olawole were unable to make their U18 Premier League debuts during their spells at Arsenal and Everton respectively.
