'Two positions' - Wolves boss wants reinforcements in attack and midfield amid links with Nigeria duo
Published: August 30, 2025
Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Vítor Pereira has demanded reinforcements in two key areas after watching his side slump to their third straight defeat of the new Premier League season.
The Molineux outfit are still without a point this term following a 3-2 loss to Everton on Saturday.
Pereira has urged the club to strengthen both attack and midfield before the close of the summer transfer window.
Wolves are closing in on a club-record deal for Nigeria international striker Tolu Arokodare.
He is set to join from Racing Genk in a transfer worth €27 million – the highest sale in the Belgian club's history.
Arokodare was scheduled for a medical on Saturday ahead of signing a multi-year contract.
Wolves have been linked to a number of midfielders including Getafe's Christantus Uche, Rangers' Nicolas Raskin, Middlesbrough's Hayden Hackney, Dynamo Makhachkala's Mohammadjavad Hosseinnejad and Barcelona's Marc Casadó.
The Premier League club have reportedly tabled a €20 million offer for Uche, though talks are yet to advance with personal terms still unresolved.
"We need someone, a solution in attack. My opinion is we need a solution in midfield because we need to compete in midfield," Pereira told reporters.
"We need to put competition in our midfielders, and wait until the end of the market. They can help the team with these two positions."
Wolves have conceded eight goals and scored only twice in their opening three matches, giving them the joint-worst defensive record in the top flight.
