Galatasaray send private jet to fly injured Super Eagles striker Osimhen to Turkey
Published: September 08, 2025
According to reports from Turkish sports newspaper Fanatik, Galatasaray are making swift arrangements to fly Nigeria international Victor Osimhen to Istanbul for immediate medical attention.
The former African Footballer of the Year sustained an injury during the first half of the Super Eagles' 1-0 victory over Rwanda in Uyo on Saturday and was replaced by Cyriel Dessers in the 35th minute.
Nigeria's medical staff were unable to patch up the ex-Napoli striker before the team departed for South Africa, confirming that he suffered a chin bruise and later experienced discomfort, which ruled him out of the upcoming fixture against Bafana Bafana.
The Turkish champions have decided to send a private jet to transport the Super Eagles star, ensuring he begins treatment without delay.
The severity of the setback will only be determined after thorough medical checks in Istanbul.
Galatasaray are keen to fast-track the recovery process of their marquee forward before their UEFA Champions League meeting with Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday, September 18.
Once in Istanbul, Osimhen will undergo detailed examinations, after which the club's medical staff will establish a clearer timeline for his return to action.
The 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner rejoined Galatasaray at the end of July for a second stint and has made an immediate impact, netting twice in his first two Süper Lig starts.
His availability remains uncertain for Saturday's clash against Eyüpspor, which marks Galatasaray's first outing after the international break.
